One trip: Michigan to Montana
One example of many: 4,500 miles in 9 days to Glacier National Park, no FSD.
I left Caledonia, Michigan, drove west, camped out of the truck, and came home with a film and a range spreadsheet. The trip became the most-read thing I’ve written and a full overlanding film on YouTube. It’s the reason people started calling me The Cybertruck Guy in a tone that wasn’t sarcastic.

Where else the truck has been
- Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Michigan. I led the Tesla Owners Club of Michigan’s Silver Lake Cybertruck Dune Day on Oct 6, 2024. A line of stainless trucks on the only ORV dunes east of the Mississippi. Event thread.
- Big Sur and the Pacific Coast Highway. Bixby Bridge, the cliffs, and a stainless truck that looks strangely at home next to the ocean.
- Joshua Tree, California. Boulders, desert light, and Cybertrucks parked where the rocks start.
- Canadian Rockies. Lake Louise and the roads around it. Charging in Alberta is fine, and you’re looking at mountains from the road most of the drive.
- Ontario Crown land. Free camping, no reservations, no cell signal. See the Starlink note below.
- Glacier National Park, Montana. The turnaround point on the Montana trip.
- Michigan, constantly. Lake Michigan beaches, boat launches, and two-tracks.
Camping with the truck

How the footage gets made
I’m a filmmaker first. I’ve filmed 200+ weddings since 2017, ran production at a credit union with a team of 35+, and hold an FAA Part 107 drone certificate. That last part matters: the aerial shots on this channel are flown legally, with the paperwork, in places where the paperwork is required.
I shoot trips the way I shoot client work. Trucks on dunes, alpine lakes from 400 feet, campsites at blue hour. I cut everything in DaVinci Resolve. No stock footage. No “cinematic” preset packs.

I buy most of what I use. When a brand sends something, I say so on the post. If it doesn’t survive a trip, it doesn’t get a recommendation. Partnerships (Evotrex and Mars Adventure Gear) don’t change the rule; they just mean I’ve used the product long enough to have an opinion.

FAQ
Can a Cybertruck really do a long road trip?
Yes. My biggest trips have run over 6,000 miles, and I’ve put 70,000+ miles on the Cybertruck platform. Michigan to Glacier National Park and back took 9 days, camping in the bed. The constraint is charger spacing in Montana and the Dakotas, not the truck. The article has the route and the charging stops.
Do you camp in the truck or tow a trailer?
On the truck. A Mars Aeroblade rooftop tent on a Mars roof rack, with 48V power for Starlink and lights. No trailer. Range matters more than square footage.
Is your drone footage legal in national parks?
Drones are banned inside national parks, so no. Everything you see near Glacier was flown outside park boundaries under Part 107 rules. Dunes, Crown land, and Michigan beaches are a different story, and I fly where it’s allowed.
